Miriam Van hee is an accaliamed Flemish poet, and a frequent guest at international festivals. Her widely translated work has recieved many awards. This is the second Selected Poems to appear in English, as a sequel to INSTEAD OF SILENCE (ISBN: 978-1-904-886-457, Shoestring), which was a Poetry Book Society choice. Many of Van Hee's poems spring from her travels, generating settings and perspectives that are constantly in motion, as she delicately observes the world around her. She is an engaged witness, who captures the disorientation of modern life and takes in the characters she meets on the way, often outsiders. Her poignant poems are at once economical and spacious in their effects, evoking the vast landscapes of our inner and outer worlds. In 2024 Van hee won the presitigious Prize for Mastery, a lifetime achievement award.
