Deliveries of Stock to Central Books

How Best to Deliver Magazines

We hope the requirements below are easy to meet and will help us work more efficiently, with less errors and less damages. The ideal delivery comes in boxes marked "Attention Magazine Department", with a clear delivery note stating the quantity in each box, the number of boxes and the total stock delivered.

We recommend that magazines are delivered in boxes to our warehouse. Some printers deliver in shrink wrap and others in strapped bundles. This is acceptable but is not good for storage and can lead to damaged stock. Some printers have delivered stock loose on pallets, this makes handling very hard and time consuming. It makes counting out stock much harder. Please do not delivery loose on the pallet. If stock arrives loose on the pallet we may charge for boxing it up and we can not guarantee against stock damages.

Important Delivery Requirements for Magazines

Please do not delivery loose on the pallet

No Boxes over 15Kg

Always provide a delivery note, that states what is in each packet or box.

If you are sending more than 20 copies of an issue do NOT mix different issues of magazine in one box.

If you are sending more than 50 copies of an issue have the same number of copies in each box, with the exception of only 1 overs box.

(Example 320 copies are being sent, getting 12 boxes of 25 and 1 of 20 is correct, getting 10 boxes of 25, 3 boxes of 20 and 1 box of 10 is wrong)

Breaking these requirements makes accurate stock management harder and can in the case of overweight boxes lead to injury and damaged books.

As per our contracts it is for the publisher to arrange and pay for the delivery to our warehouse. If you are delivering from outside the UK please make sure you have covered all the delivery and customs costs to our warehouse.

Bank Holiday Arrangements

We do make special arrangements for Xmas, New Year and Easter breaks, if you are publishing an issue very close to these bank holidays it is worth checking to see if we have special arrangements. In the week of Easter Good Friday, we do our magazine release on Wednesday at 10.00 am. We do not run a magazine release between Christmas day and New Year's Day. We are not open on bank holidays.

Publishers from outside of the United Kingdom

Please be sure to look at the additional information on our knowledge base that will greatly help make you import into the UK easier. You will need to put our EORI number on the import paper work and you will need to quote the commodity code for magazines 4901990000. Please also send to magazines @ centralbooks.com a customs invoice and as much detail as possible about who is shipping the delivery, sender and shipper.

Example of good shipping information for magazines coming from outside of the UK. We would like you to send us a copy of this when the magazines are being sent and we think you should add this to the paperwork.
