Back at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, acclaimed poet Paul Cookson set out to write a poem a day to share across social media – and is still going strong. More than 2000 consecutive poems later, Slim Volume collates some of his shorter daily poems written during lockdown with many of his more recent compositions, published in print for the first time. “Paul Cookson’s poetry is witty, sharp, and surprising. His gift for unusual perspectives and his rich sense of humour remind us that there are always more original ways of experiencing our world.” Brian Eno Paul Cookson was brought up near Preston, Lancs, and now lives in Retford, Notts, where he is the official Town Crier. He has worked as a poet for more than three decades, performing in schools, libraries and at literature festivals across the world.
