  • Take Heart

    £14.50

Here at Pom Pom we are beyond excited to reveal our newest incarnation – the Pom Pom Press! Our love of print now extends beyond the realm of magazines and our very first book is Take Heart: A Transatlantic Knitting Journey by Fiona Alice.

You may recognise Fiona’s name from the gorgeous patterns she has designed for Pom Pom Quarterly in the past, and we are thrilled to be able to expand upon her distinctive design aesthetic, beautiful illustration style, and thoughtful writing.

Take Heart traces a path across the Atlantic from Fiona’s hometown in Nova Scotia, to where she now resides in London. The book was photographed by longtime Pom Pom collaborator Juju Vail, with the stunning Welsh seaside as the backdrop.

Each pattern is lovingly illustrated by Fiona, along with heartfelt writing detailing her inspiration behind each one. We believe that handmade objects are imbued with the stories of those who make them, and nowhere is that more evident than here.

featuring 11 accessory patterns using yarns from locally owned British & Canadian companies including

SweetGeorgia // Handmaiden Fine Yarn // John Arbon Textiles // Illimani // The Uncommon Thread // Kettle Yarn Co // Toft Alpaca // The Border Mill

These lovely books are destined to become collectors items, not to mention beautiful resources of patterns that you’re going to want to come back to time and again.

Volume 4, first published in February 2017, sees Joji and Veera take bolder choices to explore outside their comfort zones, trying different yarns and colours, while still staying true to their signature style. A magical photoshoot in Veera’s native Finland brings the collection together with a dreamy set of photographs to inspire your next project.

  • Knits About Winter

    Out of stock

    Knits About Winter

    £21.50

Knits About Winter celebrates the quiet magic of a snowy landscape, the meditative joy of creating cosy knits, and the beauty of unique yarn. A collection of 12 knitting patterns by Emily Foden, these designs capture the magic and mystery of winter, all featuring her distinctive hand-dyed yarns.

Emily moved to the small hamlet of Mooresburg, Canada, to set up her home and dye studio in a 100 year-old general store. In her remote location, winter meant layers of snow and ice, transforming the wild landscape into a sparkling blank canvas that became a valuable source of inspiration. Each pattern draws details from this wintry landscape: soft shapes in the snow, the moon in an icy midnight sky, the delicate evergreen berries. With careful consideration of practical design details that make these knits functional for the coldest of days, Knits About Winter features hats, mittens, socks, shawls, and four garments.

Also included are Emily’s charming stories of setting up her dye studio, as well as how she developed her colourways and the designs for the book. Photographed by the author during a snowy Mooresburg winter, each image is a peek into the scenery and spaces that were integral to the book.

Knits About Winter is a book to treasure, and in the colder months will encourage you find the beauty and colour in the darkest season, evoking the warm glow that only beautiful knits can.
