This is the band…Price Quality Value
The poems in this collection are a band; comprised of family members, best friends, erstwhile lovers, colleagues, clients and neighbors. Beautifully nostalgic ‘Grandad was a collar stud’ and the great aunts had ‘family bibles for pressing flowers and curing ganglions’ with coming of age poems, for every age. Poems that are caring and maternal ‘an animal sniffing/ out my body’s treasures /for survival. My miracle’ alongside work that is boldly political; the anger of injustice tempered by the voice of compassion in poems that tackle drug abuse and poverty ‘I bear witness/my mouth buttoned up by protocol/want to howl for the right to be human.
