The project
Cercle is an independent and thematic magazine published once a year. Every year, a new issue. Each issue, a new topic. Cercle tries to gather information around one main topic and to propose a support that values contemporary artistic creation, culture and science.
At the core of the project was the observation that social networks were an important part of our lives and that digital development allowed a free and fast exchange of information and images. We therefore wanted to take advantage of these circulatory images and information and aggregate them according to a simple process: restricted selection, printing and publish. Cercle Magazine focuses on the idea of mustering professional, literary, visual, scientific and artistic aspects of one theme per issue, and to propose an inquisitive, playful but also a demanding and inspiring magazine.
Who is Cercle?
Created by Marlène Astrié, Marie Secher and Maxime Pintadu, Cercle Magazine is an annual publication published by Cercle Association which was founded in 2013. A non-profit association governed by articles 21 to 79-III of the Local Civil Code maintained in force in the departments of Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin and Moselle. The registered office of the association is established in Strasbourg and the association is in Strasbourg court’ register of associations. Cercle association is composed of 7 people working in close relationship to create the magazine. The main purpose of this association is the publication of a magazine, Cercle Magazine. Our respective professions and interests enable us to act on many aspects of the magazine’s production: investigation, writing, graphic design, modeling, photography, illustration, and we closely collaborate with various professionals (illustrators, editors, typographers, photographers and artists).
